Dr. Terry F. Rakowsky

From a young age, Dr. Rakowsky was drawn to the medical field. When he discovered that he could positively impact the lives of others while running his own business as a dentist, he knew he found his calling. Over 35 years later, and he’s never looked back. He’s just as passionate about providing those in his treatment chair with the compassionate and quality dental care they deserve today!

The first step toward becoming a top-rated Bucks County dentist for Dr. Rakowsky was attending Penn State. After graduation, he obtained his dental doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Passionate about learning the latest techniques and technology, he chose to further his education at the world-renowned Dawson Academy and Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. Plus, he remains an active member of professional organizations, like the American Dental Association and the Pennsylvania Dental Association, to this day!

Outside of the office, Dr. Rakowsky is a family man. He loves spending time with his wife, Cathy, and their three grown children. As for hobbies, he likes fishing, working out, playing golf, and traveling. Here’s a fun fact about him: he is a member of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame!

What Our Patients Are Saying

My family and I have been coming here for years and I have no plans on changing that! Even when I lived in the city, I always made the trips back to Dr. Rakowsky’s practice. Deb, Michelle, and Leah are fantastic. Appointments are always on time, office is clean, and they are very accommodating. Highly recommend this practice!

Frequently Asked Questions

Dr. Terry Rakowsky is a dentist near Bucks County who believes in answering questions with honest, truthful responses. We understand that finding a professional who is straightforward and transparent about dentistry may not always be easy, but we’re here to ensure you have the necessary information to make a well-informed decision about your oral healthcare needs. Feel free to review the following questions and answers and let us know if you would like to schedule an appointment or have additional inquiries.

What is required to be a dentist in the United States?

To become a dentist in the United States, you must complete a bachelor’s degree and have high grades in math and science. You can then apply to one of the 67 accredited dental schools in the country. The typical duration is three years; however, many individuals, after graduating with a Doctor of Dental Medicine or Doctor of Dental Sciences, go on to pursue a specialization. Currently, there are 12 specializations recognized by the American Dental Association, some of which include orthodontics, pedodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, endodontics, and more.

After obtaining appropriate educational and hands-on experience, dentists must commit to completing a designated number of continuing education hours each year to remain licensed.

What do you do if you can’t afford a dentist?

It can feel hopeless when you do not have dental insurance. You want to maintain a healthy smile but lack the necessary funds to pay for it. Fortunately, many dental offices throughout the area offer alternative payment options to make budgeting for oral healthcare possible.

At the dental office of Dr. Terry Rakowsky, we are pleased to provide flexible financing through CareCredit. This makes it easy to enroll in a low or no-interest payment plan that you can pay off over time.

Naturally, dental insurance will always help you to save more on the services you receive, but applying for flexible financing is a great option if you want to ensure the health and future of your smile.

How much does it cost to get a tooth pulled without insurance?

The average price for a tooth extraction runs between $150 and $400, but this is dependent on where your dentist’s office is located, the type of tooth that needs to be removed, its location inside the mouth, and whether it is a regular or wisdom tooth. Third molars (i.e., wisdom teeth) often require an oral surgeon’s help, as many are often impacted. This can cause an increase in the overall cost of treatment.

Regular tooth extraction, though, can often be performed by a regular dentist. Paying for treatment often leads patients to use their dental insurance to avoid additional out-of-pocket expenses, especially since many companies offer some level of coverage for this type of procedure.

How can I receive emergency dental work?

When faced with a dental emergency near Bucks County, it’s imperative that you call our office. Forgoing treatment out of fear is not advised, nor should you put off treatment even if you’re concerned about the cost. A team member will quickly work you in so that the dentist can begin to examine the problem area and craft a customized plan to fix the issue. While helping you out of pain is a priority, addressing the underlying issue will ensure that you walk away with a healthier, damage-free smile.

Dr. Rakowsky is pleased to provide same-day appointments for emergency patients and will do our best to keep your budget in mind while administering necessary treatment.
